18. Different parts restored

Day by day I took a part out of the box and restore it, try to make it a little bit more shiny.
It is my intention to reuse the old parts to keep the old flair - no compromise to the safeness overrules here, but there a lot of parts I will keep.

Restored parts:

The rear break cylinders are new - I was lucky to get some new ones. They were just painted.

The radiator was really rusty at the bottom. I placed it in phosphoric acid over night and it was reday to be painted. All lot of the ribs were wraped. It was a nibbeling job to align them again but the result is OK.

I think this is a Wilwood caliper.

The maijor difference are the diameter of teh pistons. Mine had a 2" and a 1.5" piston on each side, the Wilwood below has the same size for all.
I have to ask Wilwood for more information like
- caliper type
- torque to mount the halfs

On my one and only test drive I felt that the front break is not really good. I think one reason was, that the pistons were not able to move. To get them out I had to use the full 10 bar of my compressed air. Placed a
piece of wood in the middle of the calipers and "shot" them out. After cleaning, polishing and add a little grease it look good.
I have to renew the O-rings of the cross-member. Here I bought new O-rings made from EPDM. All the other parts were cleaned and polished - even the brass bleeders (you can not see them really good...)

The most comparable is the:

Wilwood Billet Dynalite Caliper - Part # 120-5005

The Billet Dynalite Caliper is powerful, compact and super lightweight. Advanced computer engineering keeps this caliper extremely rigid, resulting in incredible brake torque at a bare minimum weight - only 2.5 lbs. Internal fuild crossover eliminates external tubes and the four position, two-piece bleed screws allow for convenient mounting and easy bleeding. The Billet Dynalite uses standard quick change Dynalite pads, deep cut stainless steel pistons and high temperature seals, and has a black anodized finish. The time proven Dynalite caliper design is stronger and lighter than ever - ideal for Late Models, Modifieds, Sprints, Road Racers and Dragsters.

Product Description

The break disks got a bath in the phosphoric acid to have a little protection against the rust.
